THE DIVEMASTER COURSE
“Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other” — John F. Kennedy
If you are looking for a challenge and would like to change careers and work in the dive industry, look no further. The Divemaster course is the first professional scuba diving certification everyone must earn before they can become a scuba diving instructor.
Divemasters are leaders who can be found working at dive centers, resorts, on live-aboards, charter boats, and as freelance tour guides in various countries around the world. Once you become a Scuba Divemaster, the opportunities to live abroad in exotic places, meet new people, take in new sites, and do what you like to do most, which is scuba, is endless.
THE EXCITING PART
Anxiously anticipating the next activity challenge can be as exciting as waiting to board a ride at Universal Studios. Well, may be not that exciting. But overcoming the obstacles that your instructors will throw at you is sure to leave you with a sense of accomplishment–now that’s exciting!
THE HARD PART
Nothing comes easy! You confront many challenging tasks during this course, like an underwater gear exchange with your buddy, the “ditch and don” skill, the “bailout,“ or breathing underwater with your mask off for 8 minutes, etc. Nothing we’ll ask you to do is outside of course regulations; in fact everything you will do in this course is designed to help make you a role-model for others to follow.
The Divemaster course is designed to orientate students to the duties and profession of underwater tour guiding. Because anything that has to do with aquatics is inherently dangerous, Divemaster aspirants are required to prove their worth by demonstrating they can complete various water activities and skills either alone or with others under natural ocean conditions. Applicants study various topics and practice skills related to scuba to for the purpose of inhancing their knowledge of the Divemaster profession.
