PEAK PERFORMANCE BUOYANCY COURSE
Glide like a fish! What separates the pros from the rookies in scuba diving is their ability to maintain “neutral buoyance” at all depths and at all times during a dive. As a scuba diver you may have seen others struggling to move forward horizontally, you may have seen others dragging their gear along the sea-floor, and you may have noticed other divers who appear to move effortlessly as if they commanded the seas. Believe it or not this could be you. We will show you several methods for determining the exact amount of weight you will need for your dive profile. We will show you how to trim your weight system and streamline your gear so that you are equally balanced. We will teach you breathing techniques, and we will practice with you help hone your buoyancy skill so that you will be able to hover effortlessly in any position—vertically or horizontally.
THE FUN PART
Learning the secrets of professsionals is in specific industries is always fun. You will work very closely with your scuba trainer in fine tuning your buoyancy skills. Your trainer will have do a few breathing, swimming, and other drills that will help you become more in-tuned with your surroundings.
PEAK PERFORMANCE BUOYANCY ADMISSION
Submit a registration form for the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course, Medical Questionnaire / Statement, Rental Agreement form, and the Liability Release and Assumption of Risk Agreement. If the new diver answers “yes” to any condition on the form’s medical history section, the diver must receive medical approval prior to any in-water activities.
WHAT DO I NEED TO START?
• Admission into the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course
• At least 15 years old (divers 10 – 14 years of age qualify for the Junior Peak Performance Buoyancy Diver Certification)
• Submit a Medical History and Liability Release form (minors must be signed by parent(s) and/or legal guardian(s)).
WHAT YOU LEARN
• How to properly weight yourself for diving
• Basic physiological concepts that will help you maneuver better underwater
• Why maintaining neutral buoyancy is best for your and the local environment where you dive
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Tuition – $199.00; plus the cost of the Peak Performance Buoyancy Diver Manual by PADI.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Peak Performance Buoyance / Neutral Buoyancy Classes are typically one day long and are offered several times a week.
Classroom Work: 2-4 hours
Two Tank Boat Dives from 7:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., or from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.
YOUR NEXT SCUBA ADVENTURE
You can do many types of diving from a boat or from shore. Any certified diver can complete the Peak Performancy Buoyancy course, which will not only help you to become a better scuba diver but can also help you reach your goal of obtaining the coveted Master Scuba Diver rating.
