WHAT YOU LEARN
New divers learn the skills needed to be competent, safe, and knowledgeable scuba divers. In open water they learn basic skin diving skills, basic rescue skills, how to prepare for a scuba diving excursion, how to put together and break down scuba equipment, the fundamentals of a dive compass, how to clean and properly store scuba equipment, underwater hand signals, how to don and configure scuba gear, the importance of the buddy system and much more.
The pace of this course gradually builds momentum while accelerating students’ confidence through cognition and psycho-motor skills. Upon graduating, you will be certified to go scuba diving with a buddy down 60 feet and with a dive professional down to 120 feet anywhere in the world.
The minimum age for admission into the (adult) open water scuba course is fifteen. With consent of a legal guardian, children ages 10 through 14 can participate in the adult class but will earn a Jr. Open Water Certification upon graduation. The Junior Open Water Certification naturally becomes an adult certification once the diver turns 15 years old.
